Benefit Dressage Schooling Show at Sagamore exciting, educational, and a little bit Grand Prix - by Laura W. Baier

There was a little more than a chill in the air on Sunday, October 14, promptly at 9 a.m. when the first entry trotted into the neatly groomed dressage ring toward the judge -- there was a sense of enormous purpose as all proceeds from Benefit Dressage Schooling Whow entries, a generous $1100 were donated to ERRI.

The show, organized by ERRI board member Tracey Hurline and her husband Albert, attracted about 25 horse and rider combinations in areas of Dressage spanning from the Introductory Level to Musical Freestyle to Pas de Deux.

Patsy and Jim Ward donated the use of the beautiful Sagamore Farm facilities. Walberth Farm Ltd. donated ribbons for the classes. The Maryland Dressage Association donated the tests and equipment needed to pull off the show. And James Armstrong of Grand Prix and Equiery Trophy fame donated his time as judge.

This was an exciting day for the riders and for ERRI as it was the first-ever benefit show held in ERRI's honor. Riders were also fortunate to get pointers from Armstrong after their tests as to how to improve their overall performance and particular problem areas.

Debbie Frank and Rhonda Rollins, ERRI's President and Vice president, and ERRI volunteers were also on hand to answer questions from show participants and spectators about what ERRI is all about. One of ERRI's horses even participated in the event at the introductory level as part of his rehabilitation regimen.

ERRI wishes to thank all those who donated their time, money, and efforts to make this show a success, and ERRI only hopes this was the first of many successful benefit shows to come.
