For the second consecutive year, the Amateur Jousting Club of Maryland, Inc. brings a benefit joust to ERRI and Rendez Vous Farm.

On Sunday, July 22 ERRI's home base will come alive with Maryland's state sport, and everyone is welcome to come and experience the fun of ring jousting.

Through the generous efforts of the AJC, the July 2000 joust brought ERRI over $1300 and AJC members Peggy and Bruce Hoffman are excited to bring the sport back to the farm this year.

"We really want for this to become a yearly event for ERRI," said Peggy. "It's such a good time and for such a good cause."

Anyone is welcome to attend the joust. ERRI will have a refreshment booth with snacks and drinks for sale. ERRI's Used Tack Shed will be open for shoppers as well. ERRI is asking for a $5-a-car parking donation for all spectators - all proceeds will benefit the horses of the rescue.

A jousting clinic will begin at 9:30 a.m. for those non-AJC members who will participate in the day's events. Many ERRI horses who are available for foster or sponsorship will participate with ERRI Board Members and volunteers aboard. There is a $5 donation for clinic participation.

The official joust will begin promptly at 12 p.m. with the ceremonial medieval parade of AJC members. The Leadline class will follow. Four other classes, Novice, Amateur, Semi-Professional and Professional will finish out the day. Several ERRI horses will participate in the Leadline and Novice classes. ERRI riders are looking for sponsors. Riders are asking sponsors to donate money per ring they catch or for a flat sponsorship donation to benefit the rescue. So, sponsor a rider and come cheer them on!

There is a $5 a class entry donation for riders. The AJC is donating all clinic and class fees to ERRI. The joust rain date is set for July 29.
