Thoroughbred Charities of American, Inc. awarded ERRI a grant for $5,000 in
June. The group, which supports numerous rescue, retirement, educational and
therapeutic riding facilities awarded $1.7 million in grants in 35 states this
year.
Volunteers were relieved when word came that they had received the money again
this year.
"It's always a waiting game," said ERRI Treasurer Susan Eckert. "We are always
hopeful, but it's never a guaranteed thing. We are so thankful that it came
through because that means we can continue to pay our bills and work with these
horses.
ERRI will use the grant money to pay for needed farrier and vet attention, and
supplements for rescue horses to facilitate retraining.
