Baier ERRI owes a lot of gratitude and appreciation to ERRI volunteers and board members for organizing and conducting two successful fall benefits. On Sept. 25th, ERRI board members organized equestrian demonstrations to perform on the infield between races at The Legacy Chase at Shawan Downs. Demonstrations included a last-minute obstacle course for horse and carriage by My Lady's Manor Driving Club member Marjorie Richmond and her Morgan mare Jenny. Richmond filled in for the Maryland Polo Club who had to cancel at the last minute due to illness and injury. The Plantation Walking Horses of Maryland and the 4-H Therapeutic Riding Program of Carroll County also did fantastic demos for the crowd. ERRI thanks these groups for their participation and Shawan Downs for inviting us to be a big part of the day. ERRI also extends appreciation to the companies that sponsored the demonstrations that day: Becton Dickinson, Compass Technology Assoc. Inc., Hofmann Ltd., Interior Plant Services, Italian Gardens Restaurant, La Scala Ristorante Italiano, Linnan & Brooks DDS, The Peppermill Restaurant, and Pontifex Inc. Shawan Downs was also generous to give ERRI 50 percent of proceeds for any general parking tickets sold by ERRI volunteers. Through sponsorships, ticket sales and other fundraising carried out that day, ERRI brought in just over $2000 for the rescue. The Sagamore Benefit Dressage Schooling Show at the lovely Sagamore Farm on Sunday, Oct. 10th was also very successful for the rescue. Due to Tracey Hurline's hard work, James Armstrong's fantastic judging, and the generosity of Patsy and Jim Ward for donating use of their farm, ERRI raised $800. ERRI had a beautiful day and all the riders did a wonderful job. |
