2003 Expo the most successful yet

By Laura Baier

The 2003 Horse World Expo at the Timonium Fairgrounds is a standing January tradition for ERRI, and ERRI hopes the success of this year's Expo also becomes a tradition.

ERRI founder Debbie Rollins-Frank credits the Expo organizers and ERRI volunteers for the success.

"The organizers are always too generous with our location in the 4-H building, and we couldn't have had a better spot," she said. "We also have very dedicated volunteers who did a wonderful job setting up and manning our booth."

ERRI volunteers acquired raffle items donated by area businesses like Great Feathers, and Dogwood Tack and sold baked goods. ERRI also showcased and sold Seabiscuit prints. Proceeds from these endeavors coupled with general donations by booth visitors netted ERRI $516, this not including proceeds from the Barbour Coat raffle that brought in $56 for ERRI Western Run.

ERRI looks forward to the Horse Expo every year to spread the word about equine abuse and neglect. ERRI's goal is to educate the visiting public about equine standards and the enormous responsibility and cost associated with equine care.

This also gives ERRI the opportunity to network with new volunteers and find prospective sponsors and adoptive owners for the rescues.

The ERRI boards wish to thank everyone who donated and visited us at the Expo, along with a special thanks to all the ERRI volunteers who gave their time to help at the booth.
