Adoptive owner remembers the foundation rescue

by Alyson Perry

Sultan was a starving bag of bones when he became ERRI's first formal rescue horse. He was a "Class Act" in every way. He was high-spirited but controlled, powerful but kind. He had a classic Arabian head and huge, soft eyes, and his wisdom and caution saved me more times than I can tell you.

He always knew the way home. He loved to play with his buddies, and he was a master at slowly entering a new herd. Sultan also had a great sense of humor, and his eye would twinkle as I fumbled atop him.

Sultan had a floating trot, and could canter in place or flatten it out like a racer. He was an "A" horse that had a "C" rider. Once in a lifetime (if you are very blessed) there comes that one special horse that becomes a part of you and who will live in your heart forever.

Sultan was the Grace of my life. It was an honor to know and care for him for the time I had him. Thank you ERRI for the gift of Sultan.
