Another year has flown past. Many great things have taken place at ERRI along with some sad ones too.

This fall, we lost Sultan, our very first rescue - we consider him our foundation rescue and ehabilitation horse. He and his sons were the reason we really started ERRI to begin with. Alyson Perry, his adoptive mother, has written a beautiful eulogy for him within these pages.

Lucy Cook, one of our Advisory Board members has also written about our Toro. We lost Toro in November. He was another of our "special" poster horses too. A Bold Ruler son and a master in so many ways, Toro's presence at ERRI is rreplaceable, and we will miss his bold personality and sweet wisdom.

These great horses are what we hope will be every ERRI horse's story. They had a chance at a great second life and career and have enriched us all with their
talents. They will be missed by so many.

The great things that have gotten us through this year have been our fun fundraisers. We have done everything from ring jousting here at the home base, to having a wonderful dressage show at Sagamore Farm, to spending a fabulous day at Shawan Downs, to kicking back and spreading the word about horse abuse and neglect at the annual January Expo.

We were also awarded a grant from the Chesapeake Bay Small Watershed Grants Program of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. This grant will help us control soil erosion into the Piney Creek
watershed which borders our farm.

We are so blessed with so many caring volunteers and sponsors at all levels including this community of horse lovers. We couldn't have made is this far
without all of you. We at ERRI wish you and your families, two-legged and four, a joyous and happy holiday season. And let's all remember to keep our snow shovels handy and our water troughs ice-free!

Peace & Love to All,
Debbie
