This year's AJC Benefit Joust promises to be bigger and better than ever

The Amateur Jousting Club of Maryland brings its 3rd Annual Benefit Joust to ERRI this spring. This year's joust will feature a clinic and tournament, offering riders a better chance to learn Maryland's state sport.
On Sat. May 11 the AJC will sponsor a jousting clinic from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Rendezvous Farm for those who want to learn about jousting. ERRI invites all area pony clubs, 4-H clubs, and horsemen to come and partake in the fun. The $10 registration fee will benefit the rescue. Riders must bring a horse to ride, a helmet to wear and suitable tack.
The following Sat. May 18 brings the jousting tournament to ERRI's headquarters. All clinic participants, plus participants from the AJC will have the opportunity to compete in 5 levels of jousting action beginning at 11 a.m.
For a $5 entry donation to ERRI, riders can participate in the lead-line, novice, amateur, semi-pro, or professional classes. Riders will be placed in classes based upon their jousting ability.
Riders from ERRI will be looking for sponsors to donate money based upon their success at "catching the rings." Last year the benefit joust in July brought in over $1500 for ERRI, over half of which came from sponsorship donations.
The tournament will offer added fun for on-lookers. Food and bake stands are planned, as are a photographer and face-painter.
Everyone is invited to come and participate, or if you don't have a horse, come watch and learn about jousting and ERRI. You can also sponsor a rider and cheer him or her on!
Please call Debbie at 410-343-2142 to reserve your spot in the clinic. Payment in advance should be made payable to ERRI and mailed to the above address. Raindates are as follows: Clinic - May 12 and Tournament - May 25. No refunds, as this is for charity.
