Grants could bring ERRI much-needed funds

By Linda Losey

ERRI is very excited about the possibility of receiving grant money from the Snyder Foundation for Animals and the Chesapeake Bay Small Watershed Program.

The grant from the Snyder Foundation will help to erect a much needed run-in/equipment much-needed run-in/equipment shed to be located in the small paddock next to the barn.

The Chesapeake Bay Small Watershed Program grant will help with pasture management, rotational grazing, and the development of a manure storage facility. The grant includes money for fencing, seeding, trees, etc., to help manage the pastures and prevent run-off into the Piney Creek Watershed that runs adjacent to Rendezvous Farm.

The plan proposes ERRI be set up as a demonstration farm for the community, partnering with John's Hopkins Univ., Univ. of MD, Hereford High School, and the USDA NRCS.

Keep your fingers crossed for ERRI. The grant recipients will be announced in May.
