As Spring approaches we look forward to two exciting events. First, we will have our annual "thank you" recognition dinner on Sat. April 6th at Steak and Ale for our many volunteers and supporters. We hope many of you will join us. It's the one time we can get together and not work! Festivities begin at 7 p.m. Please let us know if you would like to join us by March 22nd. The cost is $20/person for the turf selections and $23/person for the surf selections. Everyone is welcome.
Our next big dates are in May. On May 11th we are having a jousting clinic, sponsored by the Amateur Jousting Club of Maryland, for those who want to learn our state sport. The following week we will have our annual Benefit Joust, also sponsored by the AJC, for the clinic riders and other jousters. We will encourage our riders to gather sponsors. Last year we made much-needed funds with the help of sponsors. So sponsor a rider and then come cheer him or her on! We welcome everyone at all levels of ability to learn about our state sport and participate in the jousting tournament. All you have to bring is a horse to ride, a helmet, and your tack to enjoy the fun. Or just come spectate. Bring your friends, eat, and learn about jousting and ERRI. As this is our big fundraiser, we hope you will help us get the word out. The last two jousts have been great, and we hope this one is even better.
Finally, as a tribute to Donna Hungerford who died in November after a long battle with cancer, we have created a special fund in her memory. This fund will enable those of us who miss her to continue to support the horses she loved in her memory. She touched so many people's lives and she touched ours.
